India Air Quality Resource Group

Intellectual resources in India in key areas of air quality management such as monitoring, modeling, control, and regulations are currently distributed among control boards, research institutes, academic institutions, and industries.

The formation of the India Air Quality Resource Group (IAQRG) aims to create a platform for pooling these distributed resources and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders.

Objective

The vision of IAQRG is to enhance and develop capabilities in support of air quality management initiatives at both state and national levels, while promoting mutual collaboration between organizations.

The group focuses on strengthening the concept of the GEO Air Quality Community of Practice (GEO AQCoP) to enable collaboration across research, policy, and environmental communities.

Key Activities
  1. Identifying stakeholders such as air quality researchers and managers, and mobilizing infrastructure, information, and financial resources.
  2. Conducting workshops to build capacity for access and utilization of air quality observations for decision support.
  3. Supporting decision-making by working with stakeholders in defining applications and facilitating access to environmental data.
  4. Establishing collaborative platforms for research and knowledge exchange.
